We’d never bought a new build before and we were apprehensive after choosing to pull out of a purchase with another developer because of poor reviews of their customer service and after care.
This is the most stress free move we’ve ever had. The way Stewart Milne Homes handled us made us feel special and no one, from the sales consultant to the foreman, could have been any more helpful. All of our questions were answered and it was dealt with on an extremely professional level. We’ve had snagging, but it’s been minimal, and the items were taken down, looked at and sorted out without any fuss. The site foreman, Robert Campbell, was reassuring; when we did have to report an issue recently he was there in 15 minutes and sorted out the problem with the minimum of stress to us. I’d definitely give them 5 stars for their after-sales service.

Stewart Milne Homes put us in touch with a part exchange coordinator, Sandra Winton, who arranged for two independent estate agents to value our property. Within 5 working days we had a firm offer for our property from Sandra, which was market value; we were delighted and accepted the office. This information was passed to Ashley Davidson, the sales consultant, who then took our reservation fee. Within 3 weeks we’d moved into our new property. It was totally stress free.

The development is so clean and well maintained that they’ve made it a pleasure to live in. From the minute we picked up the keys and walked through the door, it felt like a home we’d lived in for years. The landscaping is fabulous and well maintained. The houses are very solid, extremely warm, well made and well put together. All the houses are beautifully built and there is good selection of different types. The builders themselves have been completely top-notch and professional. The foreman Robert Campbell, together with Ashley, did a superb run-through of all the workings within the property.

There are a lot of families here, so they’ve included a couple of play parks on the development, and we’re in one of the best catchment areas for the best schools that are in the top 5 for Scotland. The development also attracts professionals commuting to the city, and there are convenient trains on hand for them to use with the train station on our doorstep. Together with supermarkets and good eating places, we have everything we need.

Greenwood Manor is beautiful and spacious.
There’s plenty of room between our house and our neighbours and our garden is a good size. All gardens are lovingly kept, well designed and generously planted. It’s lovely that there is plenty of greenery to complement the beautiful houses.

It’s fantastic for children and fantastic for us; everything is on our doorstep.
The convenience of amenities was a big consideration in choosing where to live and we now have great schools and parks close by as well as a terrific leisure club 500 yards up the road. We also have golf courses virtually on our doorstep as well as restaurants and shops within a short walking distance. The train station is less than 500 yards away and the motorway is within a 5 minute drive.

The design of our house is really good for our family.
We’re on three levels and our son has the ground level to pretty much to himself with his own shower room, utility room and lounge. This gives him the privacy he needs. The central floor is the living area; it’s spacious and convenient with a good sized kitchen / lounge and dining room. My office is on the upper floor as is the bedrooms for the rest of our family. Our home is well laid out, satisfies our needs and it’s fair to say has surpassed expectations.

With a baby on the way, I was definitely a little nervous that our house wouldn’t be ready in time...
But we were reassured by the friendliness of the Stewart Milne team and the quality of the show home. I actually found the whole thing a very positive experience, not stressful at all.

Delivery ahead of the deadline
We had a tight deadline in that we had to move out of the flat we’d been renting. I’d heard from friends about developments taking six to nine months longer than expected. Fortunately that wasn’t the case here. In fact, Stewart Milne managed to get the house ready a couple of days sooner than expected, so we didn’t have to pay an additional month’s rent. And we were able to move in before the baby was born!

From the big plan to the smallest details
Buying off plan it can be difficult to visualise the space, but the staff explained the plans and walked us round the show home. That really helped us picture what we’d have. They also helped in sorting out any issues. They got all the details rights and helped with the finishing touches.

An ideal place to bring up our child
We chose the townhouse because you get a large amount of living accommodation for the money that you pay, more so than from other designs or from other developers. The floor split means that you can have the living accommodation on one floor, a guest area on the ground floor, with the bedrooms on the top floor to give a family area. You can have visitors to stay without everyone living on top of each; they’re not overpowered by family life. It’s just very well designed, lots of storage space, and the quality of the finish is very high. It’s a really nice family home and is going to be an ideal place to bring up our child.

This is our first new home and, before we purchased, we had concerns about what the location would be like and how big the house would actually be...
But we needn’t have worried. We’re very happy with both the size of the house and the location and are enjoying being settled here.

Greenwood Manor is a happy place
The location is good. There’s a mixture of house types and the estate is kept clean and in good order. It’s very handy for public transport as well. The community is mixed, with families, elderly people and younger people living on their own; you see children out playing and riding their wee bikes up and down. It’s a happy place. Lots of space; easy parking! We really like the way the house has been laid out. We wanted a separate dining room, and a third bedroom, both of which we have. We’ve also got an open view to the front, parking is easy and our separate garage is very handy.

Very good customer service
The customer service is very good, especially from the sales team. They’re very approachable. Nothing is too much trouble. They were very accommodating about arranging viewings and gave us lots of information. They also took the time to go through that information, which makes the difference. They have an excellent follow-up service too and the site managers are very helpful and accessible.

As soon as I saw the house I fell in love with it…
And I still love it now. The location is perfect It’s so quiet and yet there’s easy access for transport. I also love the fact that we live in a detached house, rather than in a mid terrace as we did before.

There are lots of nice touches
We have glass shelves in the kitchen, which I thought was a really nice touch. The standard of the appliances they fit is very good as well.

The staff are very helpful too
The sales assistants were helpful the whole way along, from start to finish, and even now we’ve moved in there are people on site to help if we have a problem. I feel as if they’re on hand all the time, which is great.

But Stewart Milne houses are different; they offer a really quality house with lots of character.

Design made the difference
Although there are other house builders near by, we loved the house at Greenwood Manor and thought the quality was great. We bought a basic specification, but I don’t think it is basic at all. The quality of material used seems to be very advanced and superior. There was clearly a lot of thought put into the house to make it flow. It’s a quality build.

The people made the difference too
Right from when we first viewed the show home, we’ve had a very good experience; the staff there were particularly helpful, which was a big factor for us in deciding to buy from Stewart Milne. They wanted to meet our needs and spend time with us. There has also been a lot of on-site support from the building team as well.

I’ve worked in the mortgage business so I’m well aware of the potential pitfalls when buying a new home...
But I didn’t have any concerns at all about buying from Stewart Milne. We saw the show house and just liked the layout of the flat.

Greenwood Manor ticked the boxes
It may be a somewhat overused phrase, but the flat here at Greenwood Manor ticked most of the boxes in terms of what we were looking for. We wanted two bedrooms, a view, and a balcony if possible, which is what we’ve got. It’s ideal for our requirements. For us, the location was the most important thing, which is why we chose Greenwood Manor. We’re close to friends and family as well as the local amenities.

We’ve got we need on our doorstep
We’ve got everything – and everyone – that we need on our doorstep. From the sales people to everyone on site, people have been so helpful. For instance, the sales people gave good advice in helping us choose our fixtures and fittings. We were able to choose our own kitchen design, the units, everything. We could really personalise the flat to suit ourselves. One or two wee things have gone wrong, the kind of things you normally get in a new flat, and again the staff have been very helpful. If we’ve asked them to do something they’ve been able to do it within a day or two. We’ve had no bad experience whatsoever. To me, that’s customer service.

I would absolutely recommend Stewart Milne because the standard of the finish is very good and they offer a very good customer service. Some of our friends have seen our place and are thinking about making a move here. You can’t ask for better endorsement than that. That’s why I would recommend.

When considering a new home, we knew that having enough space for our family and being in the right location for work would be crucial in deciding where to move...
And our new house here at Greenwood Manor ticked all the boxes. We were really impressed by the quality of the finish in the show home.

A lot of extras were included as standard
A lot of things which would have been extras with other homebuilders, were included as standard. So we have a wine fridge and coffeemaker as part of the package, which would have been extras on other developments that we saw. The house already had everything you’d want; you didn’t need to add more. It’s a quiet cul-de-sac with just nine houses off the main drag; and there are eight children under the age of three here, so it’s perfect for young families. There’s a little swing park at the top of the street. It’s really child friendly. In fact, it’s a lovely street with lots of amenities and a great school nearby. It’s also got perfect access into town.

Stewart Milne gave us a great offer
Stewart Milne gave us a great offer. We did a part exchange and they let us keep our own house for a week so that we could move at our leisure. It meant that we could take a couple of days to settle in, which was really handy having had a baby.

The staff did everything they could
The staff did everything they could to help us get the house and now that we’re in, the guys on site are really friendly. We’ve got to know them and they’ve been very good at getting the snagging done quickly. With a new build, there’s always going to be something to sort out - you expect it - but it’s the speed and amenity at which they say, ‘No problem; we’ll sort it’; that’s probably what’s impressed me most.

Everyone at Stewart Milne Homes was very helpful, the quality of the house is good and they are well designed. The most memorable aspect of my purchase was how helpful they were in terms of assisting us with the move – one of the biggest selling points was the part exchange deal.
