Happy First Time Buyers at Brackenhill Park

Twenty-five-year-old Lucy Harris followed in her parents’ footsteps when she moved into a brand-new home at Stewart Milne Homes’ Brackenhill Park development in Hamilton with her boyfriend, Benjamin Wilson (26).

Happy buyers

The highly sought-after community features a range of three, four, five and six bedroom detached family homes set within an area of natural beauty and tranquillity in the heart of Lanarkshire, Central Scotland, just two miles from Hamilton town centre.

Lucy said: “Brackenhill Park was the perfect choice for us. Benjamin and I both grew up in Hamilton and knew we wanted to stay local to the area. When my mum and dad moved to the development in April 2021, I lived with them before we moved into our own home earlier this year and really loved it. It’s nice to still be just a five-minute walk away from them and my sister is also considering moving here which would be great.”

The First Time Buyers had no doubt that it was a new build home they were looking for to take their first step on the property ladder due to the multiple benefits it would bring.

Lucy said: “We know that buying your first home can be stressful, so we decided that a new build was the way to go. With the fixed price there were no surprises or competing offers to worry about and the whole process was very straightforward.

“We’re not good with DIY so moving into our new home and having nothing to do was a huge advantage. We were lucky to reserve early enough to personalise our home and chose the fully fitted kitchen which comes with premium integrated appliances, as well as the bathrooms, lighting, and other details throughout.”

Designed to make the most of its hilltop location surrounded by mature trees, Brackenhill Park’s unique countryside setting provides landscape and recreation at its heart. Parkland, footpaths and play areas are being created around the development, to provide a beautiful backdrop and recreational opportunities.

The wide variety of house styles throughout the development helps create attractive and interesting streets, carefully positioned to maximise the views and the light with many bespoke exterior details complementing the setting’s rural character.

Lucy explained: “We loved the development’s setting with beautiful countryside all around. It’s right at the top of Hamilton and there are loads of places to walk and enjoy the peaceful location while still being near enough to the town centre.

“The unique street scenes and different styles of homes are one of the most positive features of the development. Some new developments just feel like big rows of houses which are all the same, but the differences in the home styles and designs at Brackenhill Park make them feel unique. The landscaping is lovely as the green spaces and gardening really separates the homes.

“There’s also a nice community feel, and the neighbours are all very friendly with people wanting to help each other out. The residents usually create activities around Christmas and Easter time, last Christmas they had a post box and Santa on a sleigh for the families to enjoy.”

Finished to the highest standards throughout, the homes are light and airy, with well-planned living spaces for entertaining and relaxing, and are designed to be flexible to suit the ever-changing needs of family life. The couple viewed another new development as well before deciding on their Stewart Milne Homes’ property, but they felt there was no comparison between the two.

Lucy said: “The uniqueness and individuality of Brackenhill Park made it stand out and in terms of the home itself, we loved the Stewart Milne Homes’ layouts and high-quality finishes.”

Lucy and Benjamin were looking for a three-bedroom detached home and chose The Castleford from Stewart Milne Homes’ exclusive new Villages range which has been designed to meet the changing needs and lifestyles of homeowners and combines elegance and practicality.

The Castleford offers a combination of living and entertaining space. It has a spacious living room and light and contemporary open-plan kitchen/dining room which spans the full width of the house to the rear and features French doors leading to the garden. The downstairs also includes a cloakroom, storage and a fully enclosed plumbed and wired laundry zone. Upstairs there are three bedrooms, a family bathroom and additional storage space. The master bedroom is complete with an en-suite shower room, as well as a walk-in wardrobe.

Lucy said: “We wanted a three-bedroom detached house and really liked the interior layout of The Castleford as well as the look of the exterior with its unique combination of red and blonde brickwork.”

From the moment they first visited Stewart Milne Homes in autumn 2020, to getting the keys in November 2021 and moving in early 2022, the whole process was very smooth.

Lucy said: “The sales consultants, Kirsty and Sandra were the team throughout the whole process. They were always very friendly when we went into see them and were happy to take calls and answer any questions that we had along the way, so we were very comfortable with everything.”
