The Midlothian countryside that surrounds you is full of medieval castles, great walking and a host of activities from golf to horse riding. Here you can enjoy country life, with the added convenience of the city right on your doorstep. And travel a mere 8 miles and you’re in the hustle and bustle of Edinburgh. Our thoughtfully crafted range of apartments and stunning villas have been designed around the unique character of the existing space, making the most of the beautiful surroundings and close proximity to the local golf course. Come and see us, and get the best out of life.

“We were relocating and that fell through, so we were really out on a limb; what was marvellous was that Stewart Milne Homes pulled out all the stops to make this happen for us.”
“Caroline and the sales team at Hopefield View tied things up very quickly.”
We had sold our property and we were wondering if we would end up homeless. Although we were so restricted we had a moving in date and it worked very well. They kept in contact with us the whole way through and they were always asking if we had any questions about the entry. They recommended a soliciting firm who had already dealt with these properties, so that made it stress free. It was seamless and it all fell into place.
“From our lovely balcony in the front, to the clean lines inside, to the good quality doors and lovely fixtures, it’s all beautiful to look at and really easy to maintain.”
The standard of finish carries on out onto the development itself with the cobbled roads and the really nice, rusty red colour marking out the car park. The speed bumps are highlighted in another contrasting colour, and it’s good that they’re there as there are a lot of children on the estate. At the moment they are developing the visitor car park at the back and it’s taking shape beautifully. It’s important to say that the workmen here are really good. They give you right of way, are very courteous, always clean up after themselves and they always acknowledge you. They’re just nice people.
“Living here is more like living in the countryside; you can sense the community feel of the place.”
We came from just outside Edinburgh and Bonnyrigg has a nicer feel. It’s a larger village than where we came from and I think it’s better looking and better maintained. It’s very clean; you don’t see dog foul or litter about. Things are kept fresh and there are bright flowers everywhere. There’s a lovely array of any shop you can think of including a new Tesco, a Co-op within walking distance and twelve hair dressers. Getting out is easy with the very regular bus service that comes out here, goes right through Edinburgh and over to the zoo at the other side. I wouldn’t dream of taking my car into town; the bus saves me parking fees and takes the nightmare out of negotiating the 20 mile per hour zone in the centre.
I’d definitely recommend Stewart Milne Homes…
…because I think the product is really good; there’s great choice of design and there’s a variety of layouts. I don't think you could go wrong as there has to be something for everyone.

“I’m from Lanarkshire originally, so I’m used to living out in the country; I love the peace and tranquillity in Hopefield View.”
“The city is on our doorstep, but it feels like we’re living in the country.”
We used to live on the outskirts of Edinburgh, but we were a little further out. This is closer and more convenient for us. The Eskbank railway service is good and it’s only a 20 minute walk from the estate. For dining, there are loads of eateries around, including The Old Papermill restaurant where we can have lunch or dinner with family and friends, and that’s only about a 15 minute walk away. The schools in the area have all been refurbished and are handy for the families that live here. Personally, I find the walks in the area to be picturesque and serene, including walking in the nearby nature reserve and the nice, little walk down to the nearby chapel. Everyone I’ve met here has been really friendly.
“The layout of the development flows and the specification, outlay and look of the homes is outstanding.”
Driving through Hopefield View is like driving in one end of a horseshoe and coming back out. There are other housing developers on the development, but the Stewart Milne Homes stands out. The specification is much better than I’ve seen with other developers. They have large windows, grand stone fronts and architectural features, like arches. The homes and gardens are spacious and the aspect is perfect. We’re off the main road and I can see the countryside from my back garden. It’s stunning to look at.
I’d definitely recommend Stewart Milne Homes…
…because the whole process went so smoothly and there was no stress at all. They helped us and kept us updated with everything, which was great.

Hopefield View is a peaceful, attractive development that’s great for my family.
“My only real concern was the size of the development; now that I’m here I’m gob-smacked at how quiet it is.”
My previous home was positioned so that a large number of people had to walk past my house, so it was busy and noisy. Hopefield View is laid out so that it’s not a thoroughfare and I really notice a difference. Even though we only moved in eight weeks ago, I’ve found my neighbours to be particularly friendly and it’s nice to see that other people living on the estate watch out for each other and are considerate. When they drive around the estate they take care and drive slowly.
“Although there’s consistency in the building materials used, the houses don’t all look the same and you get a good variety.”
I love how attractive the homes on the development are with the different materials they use in the building process and the beautiful designs. There are many house styles available, and there’s everything from apartments, right through to six bedroom homes and everything in between. Having a mix of houses also means you get a large range of couples and families living here, which is nice.
It’s easy to get around and there are a lot of places to go.
My eldest daughter is doing an apprenticeship and she says the bus service here is great; there’s a bus that comes right into the estate. With my younger child, there are plenty of places to go, like the green, grassy areas on the development, local parks and the river that’s only a 10 minute walk away. It’s beautiful and everything is very well kept.
I’d definitely recommend Stewart Milne Homes…
…because the house is in good condition and the overall process was very easy.

“You know you love a property straight away because of the quality of it as it gives you overall satisfaction.”
“The reason I came to Hopefield View was that the quality of the development was far superior given my experience with other builders.”
The overall finishing is excellent. The sanitary ware is all very good and there is a difference in the whole layout and design. The houses are energy efficient and very warm and there are a lot of things included within the purchase price of the houses that are a very good standard and that you would find as extras with other builders.
“I can’t fault the development at all with the layout around the pond, the park and the school.”
I can’t wait to get out here in Summer with my family to enjoy the duck pond, the fields and the many green areas. It feels open with all of the walkways around the buildings and if you are ever walking around at night, it is always well lit. It’s very convenient for our family to have a school for young children in the development too.
“I took my time looking at the area for years and it’s just perfect.”
It’s private on the development and we can enjoy the benefits of a busy town just a few miles away. The town centre, shops and doctors are all within walking distance so they are easily reached. The bus routes are very good here as they run 24 / 7, and for public transport that’s a very good feature. It’s very easy to get around.
“You can’t guarantee good neighbours, but I found them here.”
The first day I took over my property, everyone was very friendly and since then I found it’s like one big family here. Someone immediately knocked on my door, introduced themselves and told us what was around. He told us about the facilities available and where we could go, especially where to take the children. All of this makes it very easy to settle in.
“The customer service on the development is excellent.”
When we were moving out of our old property, Caroline helped us by letting us know about the programmes available on the development, like Home Move or Easy Move. She had good knowledge of building work time scales and kept us updated and she explained perfectly about the plot, type of house and specification, including the topography and elevation. It was everything we needed.
I’d definitely recommend Stewart Milne Homes...
...because of the quality and the customer service.

After reading internet reviews about other developers we weren’t initially convinced to buy a new home; our experience with Stewart Milne Homes shows I made the right choice.
“Everything they included and recommended was very good quality.”
Some developers cost cut on the products they use. The storage usually isn’t great and the rooms are usually quite small. When I saw the show home for Hopefield View I saw the finish was brilliant and the quality of the products was good. The room sizes were all generous and there was ample storage. The homes on this development only use the best materials and I can’t see a single place where they have cut costs.
“Being outside of Edinburgh, but not too far away, this is the ideal location.”
It’s quite open and peaceful here and although we don’t have any children yet, we were looking for our home with a view of having them in the future. Hopefield View ticked all the boxes for us. There are schools, hospitals, a park and a leisure centre close by so we have everything in one place.
“The people here are quite friendly.”
Our development isn’t too big; some builders overdo things when they are successful. Our block in particular is like a small community within a community as there are 11 houses with some parking at the back. You tend to meet a lot of people at the car park and I’ve come across a mix of people there. Some had grown up families and others had young ones, but overall there’s a lovely community feeling.
“It’s well maintained and beautiful.”
The park Stewart Milne Homes has put in has gravel paths and young trees and it’s quite green as the grass is well taken care of. It’s nice to have a relaxing walk through it. I saw the factors coming in the other day to plant flowers that would survive in the winter, so I’m looking forward to some winter colour.
“It’s been a hassle-free, relaxed process and I have peace of mind.”
With a new house you’ll always have issues; all we need is for someone to come and fix it. Everything we asked for has been done, or if anything is outstanding we know the reasons why and have the time scale for when it will be completed. They way they handled the whole process was brilliant, especially Caroline in Sales and the after sales Project Manager. If there ever was an issue he was the first one to help us out, so the process was very smooth.
I’d definitely recommend Stewart Milne Homes...
...because with the feedback I got about other new builds I was apprehensive, but going through the process with them it was completely smooth and I’ve had no problems. It has been a really good experience.

Hopefield View is a very family friendly development
Hopefield View is a pleasant, bright and open development
There is only one main road through the development, there are a lot of cul-de-sacs so children can play safely. It’s a good place for young families as it feels very safe and it has nice landscaping. Our children enjoyed making use of their new found freedom and space over Easter and we’ve made friends with our neighbours as we all use our front gardens.
Our home feels like it’s good quality
As well as the the open spaces and the layout of the development, the finish of the house made me want to buy with Stewart Milne Homes. I’m still very pleased as it feels nice and new. The development has a very exclusive feel and all of the communal gardens are very nice.
Hopefield View is in a great location
I work in the centre of Edinburgh and we’re about a 20 minute drive away, there’s also a bus stop 5 minutes down the road and the bus will get me there within 40 minutes. We’re close to where the Edinburgh City bypass will be and the Borders train link is less than 10 minutes away. We also have use of the supermarkets and conveniences outside Bonnyrigg as well as being close to the A1.
I would definitely recommend Stewart Milne Homes because...
...we’ve had a very positive experience. The staff were very helpful and gave good customer service all round. The site manager was very helpful in getting our snagging fixed. Stewart Milne Homes build very nice houses and there’s a good range for all budgets. There are also some really nice extras available.

Hopefield View is a warm, welcoming, quiet development with family-friendly community as it’s foundation…
It meets all of our expectations of family living and the needs of our children...
Our home gives us the space we need; it’s practical. We have living space with the children in the form of a garden for them to play in and a park close by. Our neighbours are warm and friendly and there’s a real sense of community developing. We love it here and we’ve settled in very well.
You won’t see “bland” or “ordinary” here; it’s stylish and aesthetically pleasing…
It’s a pleasant environment and estate to come home to. There are nice, green areas and areas of shrubs that are well-maintained, making it welcoming. Some green spaces incorporate play areas for the children as well. There’s a lovely contrast of materials on the front of the buildings, with nice stonework on the outside. That’s an attractive extra feature you don’t see in modern homes.
The staff on the development were supportive…
I have to compliment the staff on the site including Caroline, the customer relations person in the sales office and also the site manager. Both of them have been polite, courteous and responsive to our concerns. They took our concerns seriously and kept us informed so it’s certainly a complement to the standard of service on this development.
I’d definitely recommend Stewart Milne Homes...
...I am very pleased with my home and the extras provided. I am also pleased with the people I have dealt with; they have been very friendly and accommodating. This is a move that’s worked out very well for us. We really enjoy living here and we fully expect to be very happy here.

Hopefield View isn’t a concrete development
Hopefield View is well maintained
Hopefield View is really clean and there’s no litter lying about. I like all of the green spaces and the grass areas on the development and I like that they’re all clean and are well kept. It’s well laid out with lots of pathways through the grass areas so there are lots of places to walk. The whole development centres around a big park and there is plenty of parking.
I had a really easy move to the development
I lived locally and I liked the style of the house that I was moving into. The development is a really short walk away from the town centre and you don’t have to walk around the development to get there. You can just walk through it which is good and it has a great bus service as well.
I would definitely recommend Stewart Milne Homes because...
...the development is really quiet and the people are friendly. I was a bit concerned about the ongoing building work before I moved but it’s not too noisy.

“Hopefield View seems to have been created just for the family…”
Stewart Milne Homes has thought about what people want...
This is quite a neat, new development and it feels quite safe here. They put a lot of effort into the ground keeping with foliage and trees so it feels special. Clearly all the people living here make an effort with their front gardens as well, so overall it’s quite welcoming.
This unique development stands out...
The red, mono-block roads really make a difference. I was used to the normal tarmac surface, but having mono-block makes it more special. Most other houses are just pure red brick, but the cladding in front of these houses is very stylish. With a lot of new builds you don’t get a lot of outside space, but we have quite generous back gardens; space is a big factor here.
The things we need are very close...
With an 11 month old boy the two primary schools within a five minute walk and play park right in the middle of the development are very convenient. There will soon be a shop on the development as well, but in the meantime there is a Tesco about 2 minutes by car and Bonyrigg town centre is only 10 - 15 minutes walk away.
The care didn’t end after the purchase...
The response from the after-care service on the development has been excellent, especially from the Site Manager. He’s really good at coming around in his free time to make sure everything is OK; he’s been very attentive.
I’d definitely recommend Stewart Milne Homes...
...because of the after-care and the attitude of the sales team and site manager. The house is nicely proportioned with good sized rooms too.

I HAVE IMAGINED MYSELF LIVING IN A VERY SMALL VILLAGE WHERE I COULD JUST LET MY CHILD RUN AROUND ON THE STREET WITHOUT WORRY; I FEEL THAT PLACE IS HERE …
Hopefield View is a fantastic place to live…
There are enough green spaces here so people can go out and relax and the development doesn’t feel overwhelmed with huge buildings. It’s big enough and the balance of green spaces makes it a lovely place to live; it’s peaceful, quiet and relaxing.
Child-friendly and fun...
We’re thinking of having children and the green in the middle of the development is ideal for them. It’s a nice place to go and play with a proper playground, swings and all of the fun things that children can run around and play on. The safety on the development is excellent and the nearby schools are brilliant too.
When I come home to the development and can almost see the house there’s a sudden peace of mind that I’m finally home and can relax…
I love that it’s quiet here. We have really lovely neighbours and honestly I don’t hear any of them. If there is anything then we can happily pop along to check how they are as everyone here is friendly and approachable. It’s an excellent community.
I’d definitely recommend Stewart Milne Homes...
...because we fell in love with the design of the house, we had an excellent experience and everything was fixed very quickly. The customer service was brilliant.

Hopefield View is in a perfect location, close to the city but only a few steps from the hills…
The location of Hopefield View is so convenient
It’s just outside the city, which is easy to get to by bus or car and it’s close to Tesco and the local retail park. Soon there’ll be the Borders railway line 10 minutes away which will be really convenient.
We’ve not been here long but it feels like a family friendly neighbourhood
We are planning to have a family, so the fact that there is a play park on the development is really good, it’s easy to get to as it’s just outside the door and it’s one of the reasons we moved here. There has also been a new primary school built in the area.
It’s so nice and peaceful and a great place for local walks
We used to live in the city centre so it’s nice and peaceful here. We are one of the end buildings on the development, therefore there is no through traffic, it’s just us that use this road. It is close to the Pentland hills, which is great for local walks and will be even nicer as we are looking to get a dog.
I’d definitely recommend Stewart Milne Homes…
…Because the quality of the houses is excellent and the service we received was great.

Buying this house was the best thing we have ever done…
…I love my house, we have a lot of space and it feels like a growing community. The process was extremely smooth and there were no problems whatsoever, I cannot fault Stewart Milne Homes. We are settling in absolutely perfectly and we are so happy we made this decision.
I would certainly recommend Stewart Milne
We have had a great experience. We love our new home and being a part of the community that is growing around us.

Hopefield View is a great place for a young family to start a home; it really stands out and the amenities are great…
Hopefield View is very family orientated
There are a lot of young families living here, which is great, as there is a school and a nursery close by. There are a lot of pedestrian areas and there is a massive play park in the middle of the development that allows the children and families to get to know each other better. My Mum and Dad also live here, so we’re able to see them walking around the development, and there is a real family feel to it.
You can go for a walk without leaving the development
There is one main road that goes around the development; when we come out of our house we don’t need to go on the main road to walk to the nursery. It’s healthy for families to be walking and to have a play park. The kids can go out, run around and tire themselves out, and you meet lots of other Mums and Dads whilst you’re out walking. There’s a plan for shops and a community centre to be added, but these will be added towards the end of the project.
The duck pond will be good in the summer
In the summer months it will be good to take our children up to the pond so they can throw bread to the ducks. It’s well fenced-off as well so there it’s safe for the children as well. The whole development has a really good community feel to it with all of the families with their kids.
I would definitely recommend Stewart Milne Homes…
… because our experience with them was really good throughout the entire process, and since we’ve been here we’ve been really, really happy that we’ve made the move. It’s a very young environment with lots of young families and people around this age bracket.

Stewart Milne Homes has really thought about the design and layout at Hopefield View…
The development has everything we need
It’s a great place to live and the development itself just works. The houses are a nice size and the number of rooms in the home itself was a big factor in us moving here. We also think the location is great for commuting, because we’re close to the A7 and it has good access for us to get about places.
We don’t feel squashed in
I think Stewart Milne has given the development the right shape. We don’t feel like we are on top of the other homes here, so we have a sense of space. It’s really important to think about these things and where things are placed – this is something we feel they have done.
I would definitely recommend Stewart Milne Homes
Overall we’ve had a good experience with them and it is a good quality home.

This was the first new home we’ve bought and before visiting Hopefield View we thought it might be just a series of big boxes on an estate somewhere...
But as soon as we saw the development we realised that it wasn’t like that at all.
Our house has real character
The house is great. It’s got features that make it a bit different. I especially love the open stair way and balustrade. You get a real sense of space as you walk around it.
There is so much space
We have a kitchen with an informal eating area, which we’re really keen on, as well as a separate dining room. We’ve got a detached garage as well. Having come from a two-up, two-down in the city centre, we can’t believe the difference. We were very happy there, but we needed more space. We’re really pleased with what we’ve got now; being in a detached house we’ve got more privacy too.
The staff are very efficient, open and friendly
We were very impressed by the speed in which Stewart Milne completed things; we bought on part exchange and Stewart Milne turned round the sale within five weeks. Even now, you can approach the guys on site at any time of the day and talk to them about any issues you have. If you need anything, they’re more than willing to stop and listen to what you say. If they can help, they will.
I would certainly recommend Stewart Milne
I would recommend Stewart Milne because the build quality is good; and it’s not just me saying that as friends and family have also commented on this. That’s why I’d recommend them.

With a new home you expect teething problems, especially once you’ve moved in…
But the after-sales service we’ve received from Stewart Milne has been far superior to anything we’ve experienced before. Who would have thought that buying a new home could be such a good experience? It’s been fantastic. Any minor issues we’ve had have been dealt with immediately and really efficiently.
It’s a quality product
We looked at other builders, but we really liked the layout of the house, especially the large kitchen. The quality of the fittings is very good as well, compared to others we have seen.
You get the best of both worlds
We come from the town, but what sold Hopefield View to us is the fact that it’s close to Edinburgh, yet is in the country. We absolutely love the outlook; it’s nice to come home to.
We would definitely recommend Stewart Milne
We would definitely recommend Stewart Milne; we’ve been very impressed with them. The whole experience has been really good, from the sales staff to the site manager. In fact, we are still on a high!

I know people say location, but it was mainly the house that sold Hopefield View to us... We really love it. We love the house. It’s a really good size and the layout is perfect.
It’s a fantastic space
The kitchen is a real standout. It’s a fantastic space. We spend most of our time in there as there’s room to relax as well as space for a dining table. It’s also got patio doors to the garden. So has the lounge, which is another great room. It really is a beautiful house, every feature’s been really well thought out. Another must for us was having an en suite in the master bedroom as well as a guest bedroom and we’ve got both.
Everyone we’ve dealt with has been great
Apart from the house, for me the best aspect of buying from Stewart Milne has been the people. Everyone we’ve dealt with, from the sales people to the site crew, has been great. Nothing’s too much trouble and we’ve been well-treated from start to finish. We’ve got some snagging, but you have to expect that in a new build, and they’ve been really quick to fix everything for us. We traded in too so the stress of having to sell was taken away.
I would recommend Stewart Milne Homes
I can highly recommend it. I would definitely recommend Stewart Milne Homes.

We wanted to stay in Bonnyrigg but with a growing family we needed more space and storage...
And in fact we’ve been able to move just across the road from our old house, but now we have a five bedroom townhouse which suits us much better.
We didn’t have the worry of selling our own property
We feel the house offers great value for money and we’re really happy. We were offered a part exchange so we didn’t have the worry of selling our own property and that took some of the stress away.
Stewart Milne Homes’ customer service has been perfect
Stewart Milne Homes’ customer service has been perfect; the staff onsite are always helpful. We have had no problems at all. We looked at the other builders’ houses in the area but we felt the rooms in the Stewart Milne houses were more spacious and were laid out better.
I would recommend Stewart Milne Homes
I would definitely recommend them as I think they offer good value and are generally far better than the other houses we looked at. We’re very pleased with our new home.
