Affordable Housing

Friarsfield community engagement

Background

Friarsfield Cults is allocated as Opportunity Site OP5 in the Aberdeen Local Plan 2008 and is safeguarded for residential development. The land is under the control of a number of parties and applications will be made in the next few months for detailed planning permissions for housing, roads and other essential infrastructure. At the same time, the developers – CALA Homes (East) Limited and Stewart Milne Homes – jointly are preparing a Development Framework to be submitted to Aberdeen City Council, which when approved will guide the form of future development on the land.

Consultation

The developers have been following the process of community engagement and public consultation which is required before planning applications are made and this is combined to include the Development Framework. Two main events have been held in Cults, on 8th September 2011 and on 1st November 2011 and these were attended by around 260 local people. During the second exhibition, a number of requests were made about being able to look at the display boards online and this web page has been created to allow this to happen and for any further feedback to be given.

Pre Planning Application consultation

The links provided here link directly to PDF documents which can be opened in your web browser or Acrobat Reader (left-click) or saved to your computer (right-click, 'Save Link As...'). They appear exactly as they appeared in September 2011 and November 2011. In particular, the exhibition display boards can be downloaded although as their files sizes are quite large this might take some time. In case they are difficult to read on screen, paper copies have also been placed in Cults Library for your convenience.

Timescales

There are time limits on part of this process. At the November exhibition, feedback forms were available which asked that further responses should be made by Tuesday 15th November 2011. The same date will apply to comments made through this web page if they are to be considered as part of the formal process which is being followed. However, the material will all be kept live on this site and you will continue to be able to submit further comments after 15 November 2011 and these will be accepted for information purposes in the entire planning process.

Please do not send any comments at this stage to Aberdeen City Council, as this pre-application consultation is the responsibility of the developers not the Council. There will be the normal chance to submit any comments on the planning applications to the Council, after they have been submitted.

Please send your feedback on these proposals to our appointed planning consultants, with your name and address, to:
