Space is important for our family and Ardgowan Rise is ideal for us.
We love the house we have, including it’s layout and design. We have 6 bedrooms; one is a playroom for our two young children and we have an extra sitting room. With two en-suites, that’s a lot of space. The layout of the development is spacious as well. The houses have a good distance between them and there’s a good distance between the houses and the road. There’s a lot of room to live.

There are two play parks on the estate and there’s plenty of traffic calming, like speed bumps, which is good because children are quite frequently along the road. My children are five and two and it’s nice to have the children’s play areas. The main one, with it’s climbing frames and slides, opened a couple of weeks ago for the older children and there are already families using it. The one for toddlers will be opening a little later and it will be nice to take my children there.

Our development has pavements so we can walk from here down to a footpath over the railway line and into the village. In the village there’s a hotel bar and restaurant, a chemist and a dentist. There’s also a Sainsbury’s, a few more shops and some facilities. Across the main road there’s a marina and there are some hills behind the development where friends of ours walk their dogs. It’s fifteen minutes to the marina, fifteen minutes to the shops and between a five and ten minute walk to both the school and the train station. We’re central to everything we could want.

“Our home is good quality and we only had a very small number of snagging items.”
The finish of the house is really good and we’ve been really happy with the site staff. If there has been any snagging it’s been minor, and the site staff have been really helpful in getting things fixed. When we did go through the snagging list, within a day or two most of the contractors had been around to fix most of them and we weren’t waiting a long time to get the rest of them fixed. They did it really quickly.

Ardgowan Rise is a development that suited our needs in terms of location, house type and the local surroundings…

The development is in an excellent location
We’re situated 5 minutes away from the nearest town giving us good access to all of the local amenities, and even though it feels quite rural and in the country it’s very handy for us getting to work with the road and rail links that are nearby.

Well laid out with children in mind
There are lots of open areas with different paths going around the development. This helps to create a sense of space for everyone living here, and even the plots themselves are well spaced out. We get no through traffic because the roads have been designed to keep it safe for children and there’s also going to be a play park built, which gives the place an extra safe feel to it for young families.

Each house gets a very good outlook
The development has been designed to fit in with the landscape that was already here, so it fits in with the scenery of the hills that are close by, and whether you’re looking out from the front or the back of your property you get a brilliant view.

Not only was it a good deal, but we didn’t have to worry about estate agents or the length of time the flat would take to sell.    

Room… and a view
We love the en suite and the fact that we now have a back garden.  The views especially are amazing.  We knew we wanted to stay in Inverkip because it’s close to work and family, but Ardgowan Rise appealed because it’s well-placed for the local amenities as well. 

Everything just fitted into place
The whole experience from start to finish was just really smooth.  We’ve had no real issues with the mortgage, the part exchange or even with the snagging.  Each part of the jigsaw just fitted.  Nothing was out of place.  That’s all thanks to Barbara, David and Mark; the service we received from them was brilliant.

Flexibility with the fixtures and fittings
I really like the choice that Stewart Milne give you with your fixtures and fittings.  It was great to be involved from such an early stage and be able to pick your kitchen, the tiles and carpets etc.  Even down to placing the sockets, it was great to see it all come to fruition.

The whole process was memorable
The whole process, from deciding to go for the property to completion, was memorable. Just the way we were always kept up-to-date with everything, everything went to plan, and anything we asked, they were helpful.

I hadn’t bought a brand-new house before and I’d never even heard of Stewart Milne...
But I thought buying new would be easier than moving into an older house, especially as we were having to move our business too, and I wasn’t wrong. There’s so much space.

There’s lots of space
Our house is on split levels over three floors. It’s really nicely laid out with the living area on one floor, the master bedroom on the next and three further bedrooms on the top floor. There’s lots of space, which is what we were looking for. You get a better quality of finish We visited other sites but Ardgowan Rise just seemed better. It has a better quality of finish; there’s more space between the houses. It’s perfect for our needs It’s close to work so I’m not travelling long distances. It’s also great for my 12-year old daughter, who has settled in well and loves the school.

The staff are always friendly
The staff are friendly too, which helps Barbara, the sales lady, is always friendly and pleased to see you and based on our experience of house hunting elsewhere that’s not always the case! Mark the site manager is very approachable as well. Nothing is too much trouble and you feel you can approach them at any time. Even when little things go wrong, they’ve been prompt and quick to sort things out.

Having bought a new build previously, I didn’t want to be in the same situation again where, once they’ve got your money, you’re endlessly chasing for the snagging to be done…
Which is why I went with Stewart Milne. A colleague had already bought on Ardgowan Rise and said how good their customer service is; and it is.

We’d bought off plan
We’re really pleased with what we’ve got for our money. We especially like the fact that the house is split level. We’d bought off plan and it was only when walking in for the first time that we really got a sense of what it’s like. We were actually even more impressed with what we’ve got after we moved in. We’ve got a house for the future. It’s got four bedrooms; it’s a place for having kids. We’re looking forward to growing into it.

The location is ideal
For me the location is ideal. It’s really quiet, but you’re only ten minutes up the road from all the facilities. You feel in the countryside almost. It’s ideal for me. I like coming home to the fact that it’s dead quiet. Where I lived before it was always noisy.

Nothing was a hassle
Dealing with Barbara, the sales woman, and Mark, the site manager, nothing was a hassle. We had the option to change things, even quite late on in the build. We’d ask and Barbara would say, ‘I’ll see what I can do’. Nine times out of ten, it was changed. Mark too, you’d phone him up to sort something out and someone would come round really quickly. Even now, every week he touches base to check everything’s alright.

If you’d said to me when we were looking at the show home that we’d have moved in to Ardgowan Rise in less than four weeks, I would never have believed you...
But Stewart Milne were incredibly efficient; we took advantage of their very fair part exchange offer and they even facilitated the legal and financial arrangements.

We’re really pleased with our house
We’re really pleased with our house. It works well for us and the layout and size of the rooms are great. Our garden, especially, is a generous size for a new build. We’ve gone for the traditional two-storey and have a large kitchen/ breakfast room as well as a separate dining room. We have a lovely family bathroom and both the master and guest bedrooms are en suite.

Ardgowan Rise is a lovely estate to live in
Ardgowan Rise is a lovely estate to live in. There is lots of space between the plots and the landscaping to the front of the houses has been done really tastefully. Although it is a new estate it already looks established. It’s also within easy reach of the town centre as well as being right on the coast. Its close proximity to the railway station means that there’s easy access to Glasgow. You can be in the heart of the city in less than an hour and yet you’re right on the coast.

The staff were really helpful
The staff were really helpful and quick to get things sorted out for us, nothing was too much trouble. And now that we’re living here, even though there’s building work going on, it’s barely noticeable. The way that the homes have been released means it isn’t intrusive. Even when there is work going on at the weekend we’re not disturbed by it because the building access is well away from the homes that are already occupied. The roads are even cleaned every single day so there’s no risk of dust or mud being brought into the house.
