Stewart Milne Group takes heart
The Stewart Milne Group, one of the UK’s leading independent housebuilders, has joined forces with the nation’s heart charity, the British Heart Foundation in a year long fundraising partnership. As part of the partnership, Stewart Milne Group is helping support the British Heart Foundation’s (BHF) ‘Healthy Hearts’ initiative, in which BHF Heart Nurses will be visiting Stewart Milne’s North West head office in Manchester and providing ‘healthy heart’ checks to their employees. The 30 minute consultation includes a check on blood pressure, body mass index, cholesterol level and dietary needs. Each year, the Stewart Milne Group staff vote for a charity to support and have raised thousands for a wide variety of charities over the last few years including Cancer Research UK and CLIC Sargent. For 2008, the house building group have chosen the BHF as their dedicated charity of the year. Douglas Rouse, head of corporate partnerships at The BHF, said: “It’s fantastic that the Stewart Milne Group is helping the nation’s hearts. The money raised through this fundraising partnership will help us in our fight against heart disease, which remains the UK’s biggest killer.” Stewart Milne, chairman and chief executive, Stewart Milne Group, said: "The British Heart Foundation will be a key focus of our charity activity across all our UK divisions this year. We’re delighted to support an organisation that addresses an issue that affects all of us – having a healthy heart." Last year, staff raised over £70K for Cancer Research UK and this year staff are participating in the London Marathon as part of their efforts to raise funds for BHF to get 2008 off to a great start. |
