Douglas Meadow is in a quiet and picturesque location. We are surrounded by hillsides, greenery and natural countryside. The area is nice and rural, with trees and fields and even a farm quite near us.

Stewart Milne homes have taken care with the landscaping on the development, including two ponds that are taking shape and a park - these both really add to the feel of the area. I love the general landscaping they have done, even putting trellis around the substation with plants and climbers surrounding it.

Douglas Meadow is situated in quite a small village so you have the convenience of the local Co-op and Tesco with a big retail park only a couple of miles down the road. There’s a great choice of local amenities, including lots of pubs and a whole array of restaurants on the doorstep. It’s such a quiet location but as it’s quite close to the motorway, Manchester is not far away so you have the option of local amenities or a busy city centre.

...because the service was so good and they really do look after you. If you have any problems Stewart Milne Homes sort them out straight away or get everything booked in so you know when everything will happen.

The layouts are well thought out, making the rooms quite well lit, bright and open. It’s a timber frame build and I’m happy that there have been minimal issues for a new build. You always expect to find things, and anything I found here was minor and resolved quickly by Stewart Milne Homes.

Douglas Meadow feels open and safe.
It’s a low crime area anyway, but the open space planned into the development means that everything is easily visible without being obtrusive for anyone. That makes it feel secure. On top of that, everything is very well maintained. The communal gardens have been thoughtfully planted, are kept neat and the grass is cut regularly. The children’s playground is always kept nice and tidy too. They do really seem to keep on top of it.

I’d definitely recommend Stewart Milne Homes...
...because I haven’t come across any substantial issues and the home is well built.

This isn’t a massive estate and the wide pavements, adequate parking, room around the houses and lovely communal areas make it a really pleasant place to live. In other developments I saw it seemed like I’d be living in a car park. In the morning when I look outside my window I can see some work guys pass, so I know they are there, but I can never hear them or see them working. I know they are using machinery, such as forklift trucks, but it’s like they aren’t there at all. It’s so quiet and peaceful here.

When my friends come over with their two children, the kids can play and have fun while we have a good catch up at the play park. In the future I’m thinking of having children myself and I think this is a nice area that has a safe vibe because it’s so open and quiet. With the well maintained gardens and communal areas, it’s just completely different from what I’ve seen in the past.

Just at the bottom of my road is a bus stop, so I can hop on the bus or get a train into town to do what I need to do. If I’m going out with friends at night, I don’t have to worry about a taxi, and if I need something simple, like milk, it’s just a five minute walk to the shop up the road. The doctor’s office is in walking distance too, so I have everything I need.

…because of the customer service I received. They kept me up to date and I’m happy with the house. Anything I asked to be done, was done.

It’s welcoming driving into the estate. You don’t drive straight into a mass of houses; there’s a play area and a nice, green park area, so it feels open and spacious. They’ve managed to retain a lot of existing trees around the edge of the development, so it doesn’t feel stark. The design, layout and quality of the houses here is excellent, and they are all in a nice, soft, green space.

The sales team and the site team communicated with each other and with us, so the whole package was really very good, and the focus on the customer from the site guys has been outstanding. It’s inevitable that there will be problems in a new house, but they’ve been very understanding of the fact that it can be an inconvenience, so they’ve responded very quickly. They have let me know what they will be doing, when it will be done, and then they’ve checked the work after it’s been completed. I’m in the industry and I’d class this as outstanding.
